Answer

The Being Well Doing Well programme provides schools with a framework to assess current policy and practice and implement actions to develop emotional health and wellbeing in their school.

All educational settings that are implementing the Being Well Doing Well programme can avail of in school, ‘Bereavement and Loss’ Professional Learning for all staff (teaching and support staff) if it is identified as an action following their whole school baseline audit. The Learning Intentions aim to:

Increase awareness of the ways in which children and young people grieve and an understanding of the grief process

Explore effective strategies which support children and young people through bereavement

Provide a Bereavement Policy Framework

The Being Well Doing Well team have also developed a range of Little Books including The Little Book of Grief for children and young people. This is accompanied by teacher guidance to assist them to approach this sensitive issue.
