ANSWER
All schools have access to the Education Authority (EA) Professional Learning in relation to bereavement.
School Principals and Senior Management Team from educational settings not currently implementing the Being Well Doing Well programme can access the EA Professional Learning module A Whole School Approach to Bereavement and Critical Incident Management. This is a 2 day (3.5 hours per day) online professional learning event for staff.
All educational settings can access bereavement support advice and resources from the EA Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) Helpline which is available during office hours and out of hours. They will also be directed to the EA website which offers bereavement information and resources which can be downloaded.
Schools provide Psychological First Aid and emotional support to staff and pupils after critical incidents involving the bereavement of a pupil or staff member, when needed.
The Bereaved NI website is a useful resource for everyone to learn more about bereavement and grief, and signposting for specific support.
