Answer
The provision and operation of EV charging infrastructure is a commercially led activity in the North. Responsibility for the maintenance, development and utilisation of charge points rests solely with the Charge Point Operators (CPOs). Relevant CPOs are best placed to advise you on the further plans within their wider networks.
My Department engages regularly with the Electric Vehicle Association of Northern Ireland (EVANI) on issues affecting EV owners and the number of CCS chargers (Combined Charging System) being installed is beginning to increase.
Drivers who use the CHAdeMO plug may wish to consider an adapter that enables access to other charger types. EVANI has previously published a review of one such adapter that can be found here: The CCS2 to CHAdeMO Adaptor Review – EVANI
Department Officials will continue to highlight this issue in our ongoing stakeholder discussions with CPOs.
