Answer
My Department is aware of the condition of Moss Road, Millisle. Verge strengthening / stabilisation works are required at several locations along Moss Road in advance of resurfacing.
The design of the proposed works is well advanced and currently going through the road safety audit process. It is currently envisaged that verge strengthening work will commence during the current financial year subject to acquiring the necessary lands and budget availability.
In addition, a number of large-scale repairs, remote from the verge strengthening work, have been programmed for Moss Road. These are planned to commence in the coming months.
The full programme for 2024-25 will be developed and published once future budgets have been agreed. In the meantime, officials in my Department will continue to undertake regular inspections and repair defects in accordance with the Department’s policy.
