Answer
I was concerned to hear about this incident and I hope the pupil involved is recovering well. The Education Authority (EA) is responsible for the operation of the School Crossing Patrol Scheme (SCP) Scheme and it has advised me that it has been in contact with Grange Park Primary School in relation to this incident.
The EA must undertake an assessment of any potential SCP locations in line with Road Safety GB ROSPA, School Crossing Patrol Services Guidelines. I am informed that the EA will liaise with the school, and required statutory bodies, in undertaking an assessment and if the location meets the requirements, it will progress to recruitment of an SCP as matter of urgency.
