Answer

TEO officials are currently working on the administrative preparations and the documentation required to begin the recruitment process for a new Commissioner for Victims and Survivors.

The Commission for Victims and Survivors is regulated by the Commissioner for Public Appointments (CPANI) and, as such, the appointment process must comply with the Code of Practice for Ministerial Public Appointments. We hope to launch the appointment competition soon. It is estimated that it could take up to 6 months to complete the recruitment competition.

As a body corporate the Commission continues in legal existence even in the absence of a Commissioner. The Chief Executive Officer of CVS will now be responsible for the day-to-day business of the Commission. CVS will continue to operate on the basis of the work programme which was agreed by the previous Commissioner.
