Answer

The Power to Change Campaign, was jointly launched by The Executive Office, the Department of Justice and the PSNI in January 2025 to target harmful attitudes and behaviours of men and boys. The campaign has a dedicated website and toolkit with a strong focus on social media advertising.

Phase 1 of Power to Change focused on engaging with perpetrators and active bystanders, re-enacting scenarios depicting subtle acts of harm towards women and girls. The campaign, across social media platforms had high engagement, accumulating over 10 million impressions.

Phase 2 of Power to Change, will launch in the coming months. It is aimed at addressing the root of the problem by tackling internalised misogyny head-on while examining how normalised and perpetuated misogyny is within our culture and especially online. The campaign will use video and social media, with peer-to-peer focused discussions, including positive content on masculinity and will amplify women’s voices and include real social commentary. The dedicated Power to Change website and toolkit will be updated for Phase 2 of the campaign.

The outcomes from Phase 2 of Power to Change will be used to inform the development of Phase 3, which has yet to be developed.
