Answer
Vehicle manufacturing standards including electric vehicles are governed by vehicle type approval.
Type approval is a reserved matter. The British Secretary of State for Transport has primary responsibility for type approval. As a result of the Protocol, EU law continues to apply here for the purposes of type approval.
Consequently, vehicles sold in the north must either carry EU or UKNI type approval certification.
