Answer

The Executive Office fully supported and recognised the 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence this year: reaffirming our unwavering commitment to ending violence against women and girls and supporting and engaging with partners.

An Executive Statement was issued, and it made clear the determination of all Ministers to tackle all forms of gender-based violence, abuse and harm; and our social media channels were used to deliver targeted content to raise awareness and encourage action. This included six social media posts with accompanying images and one video.

Ministers attended a number of events throughout the campaign period, including:

‘Souls of Our Shoes’ exhibition in partnership with the Mothers’ Union, highlighting the lived experiences of survivors.

Speakers’ event at Parliament Buildings, hosted with Women’s Aid Federation, marking International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

Junior Ministers attended the launch of ‘Raise Your Game’ board game and a comprehensive 10-part toolkit - youth-designed resources developed by The Executive Office and the Education Authority. These resources are equipping young people to challenge and prevent violence against women and girls.
