Answer
The Equality Commission for Northern Ireland (ECNI) has responsibility for enforcing the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA), as amended.
ECNI takes a range of steps to ensure service providers, including hospitality businesses, understand their legal duty to make reasonable adjustments under the DDA. These steps include providing tailored guidance and advice, maintaining the Disability Code of Practice, supporting individuals who believe they’ve been discriminated against, and promoting the ‘Every Customer Counts’ initiative to help businesses improve accessibility.
