Answer
The draft Executive Anti-Poverty Strategy is founded on an analysis of the risk factors for falling into poverty; the major impacts of poverty on people’s lives; and the factors that enable people to exit poverty. The evidence shows that living with a long-term medical condition is one of those risk factors as well as a potential impact of poverty. Based on this analysis, I have sought actions and commitments from across the Executive departments, including my own, aimed at improving the lives of all people experiencing and at risk of experiencing poverty across all communities in Northern Ireland.
