Answer
The All-Island Strategic Rail Review (AISRR), examined how the rail network on the island of Ireland can improve sustainable connectivity between major cities, enhance regional accessibility, support balanced regional development and contribute to decarbonisation. Enhancing the integration of rail with other transport modes is one of 13 objectives within the Review. In support of this objective, the Review recommends developing new or improving existing rail-airport connections at both Belfast International Airport and George Best Belfast City Airport.
Translink are undertaking a Feasibility Study for options to improve the accessibility and connectivity to George Best Belfast City Airport. The study is examining options for potential connections to the airport including the projected costs for each identified option. The feasibility study is due to be completed by Spring 2025.
