Answer

My Department usually undertake traffic surveys for specific traffic management issues, such as for the provision of pedestrian crossings, setting speed limits, traffic calming assessments etc. I can advise that my officials have undertaken numerous traffic data assessments on various routes within the Donaghadee area over several years to inform consideration of a range of traffic related matters.

Traffic data is gathered, via a permanent counter, from A2 Millisle Road, between Donaghadee and Millisle, and published in the annual report within the Traffic and travel information section of the Departmental website: https://www.infrastructure-ni.gov.uk/publications/traffic-and-travel-information-incorporating-annual-traffic-census-and-variations-traffic-flow.

The collection of traffic data (obtained from sites such as the A2 Millisle Road) contributes to the effective management of the road network by providing information to assist in the allocation of departmental resources, the development of future proposals for the network and Winter Service provision.

At present, my officials have no plans to undertake further traffic flow surveys within Donaghadee.
