Answer
Speed Indicator Devices (SIDs) are not considered to be traffic signs and do not fall under the remit of my department as they fall under the remit of Policing and Community Safety Partnerships (PCSPs) and are funded by the Department of Justice through the Northern Ireland Policing Board.
I recognise the road safety benefits SID signs can bring and my department works in partnership with the above mentioned bodies to ensure their safe and managed placement through developed policy Speed Indicator Devices DEM 191/23 (infrastructure-ni.gov.uk).
My department is aware of 6 locations identified by the PCSP for SID signs in the North Down and Ards area but would suggest that you make contact with your local PCSP for details of their specific locations.
