Answer
All requests for improvements to the road network, including road improvement schemes, are assessed in line with my Department’s current policies and guidance and all works are subject to prioritisation within the funding available.
A review of Bryansburn Road roundabout, Bangor indicates that measures have previously been implemented at this location and the roundabout currently has a good road safety record. There are no plans to implement any additional measures at this time.
Details of the planned list of local transport and safety measures for the 2023/24 financial year are provided in the Department’s Annual Report for Ards and North Down which can be found at; https://www.infrastructure-ni.gov.uk/sites/default/files/publications/infrastructure/annual-report-ards-and-north-down-borough-council-2023.pdf
Local transport and safety measures programmed for 2024/25 will be prepared when budgets are confirmed and will be presented to Council in due course.
Concerns regarding driver behaviour such as inconsiderate parking and/or speeding should be directed to the PSNI using the non emergency 101.
One of the best ways to ensure the safety of our roads and fulfil our long term goal of eliminating death and serious injury on roads by 2050 is by changing driver behaviour. If all of us who are drivers do not change our attitudes towards speeding and careless driving, our death toll, which has increased in the past year, will continue to increase.
