Answer

I recognise the significant increase there has been in open water swimming, and my Department is currently undertaking a review of Bathing Waters. A pre-consultation with councils and a public consultation have both been carried out, and my Department is now considering the proposals for new sites including Brompton Bay. Bathing water profiles will be produced and published for all bathing waters that are formally identified through the ongoing review process.

My Department publishes bathing water profiles for all 26 identified bathing waters in Northern Ireland. These profiles are reviewed annually.

A list of current bathing water profiles can be found here https://www.daera-ni.gov.uk/publications/2022-bathing-water-profiles.
